Twilight

Hey, so there are more Twilight readers out there than I had expected!  Yay!

For those who haven’t discovered it yet,  here’s a link to Stephanie Meyer’s website: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilightseries.html

They are YA books, and the main characters are teenagers, but I thought they were really well written and I never felt like I was reading a book that was “too young” for me.  There are vampires in it, along with other supernatural themes, but don’t let that deter you if you aren’t a fan of vampires.  The story is about love, family, and relationships.  The vampire part was almost an afterthought for me.

Oh yeah, don’t forget to read Midnight Sun (it’s on Stephanie’s website).  It’s part of Twilight from Edward’s perspective (unfinished, though, and will probably never be finished).  And browse through the rest of her site, too, because she has lots of little extra bits and pieces.  (Like the phone call between Rosalie and Edward toward the end of New Moon.  Fascinating stuff!)

So for those of you who have read the books, are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?  Who was your favorite character?  Which of the books in the series did you enjoy the most?  And are you going to see the movie when it comes out in November?  Are you happy or disappointed with Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner playing Edward and Jacob?  Assuage my curiosity!

Thanks for the link to Stephanie Meyer’s site. I will have to check it out and get reading…

  • Dallas says:

I am on Edward’s team I loved all 4 books and hope she decides to write the fifth one. I can’t wait till the movie comes out but I am a little disappointed with Robert Pattinson playing Edward I thought maybe they would find someone a little more buffed lol anyway I love the other actors and actresses portraying the characters. I think I loved all 4 of the books equally they were as you said very well written. I am now reading her other book “The Host” and finding it very interesting also

Thanks, Ellie, for pointing me toward my next anthology. Can’t wait to start reading!

I’ve been following the blog of another YA author for nearly two years now and find it fascinating to read about the trials and tribulations of publishing YA novels. If you are at all curious, take a look at L.Lee Lowe’s blog:

Ellie- I LOVE these books! My husband and I both read them and have made several other people read them!! lol My favorite book was Twilight, and second was Breaking Dawn. I cannot wait to see the movie in November!!! I like Taylor playing Jacob, but I thought they could have gotten someone “hotter” to play Edward. I am Team Edward though!!! lol My favorite character is Alice – I just love her! I am going to be a vampire for Halloween for a costume party we are going to!!

Hi Ellie, My niece got me into these books. I listened to Twilight on my Ipod and had to run out and buy New Moon. I’m really surprised these are so good. My 13 yr old son is now reading Twilight. The author makes me remember what it was like being 17 with all the emotions, conflicts etc. I don’t really think vampires (if they exist) are really sexy and adorable, but it’s a good fantasy!!
Thanks for sharing all your lovely digital artwork as well. You are so talented.

  • Lauren says:

thanks for asking Ellie! I love Twilight! I am reading them via eReader on my iPod touch. I just finished New Moon and am starting Eclipse.

I am totally Team Edward! I have seen some pix of Edward from the movie and think he’s cute but looks weird with all that makeup.

I haven’t gotten this into reading a series since Harry Potter. I am in my 20s but still love it!!

  • momsthewordus says:

I read on the website that she very likely will finish New Moon! Yeah! I can’t wait. I just finished reading the third book–staying up very late and finishing quite quickly. I was worried about where she was taking the story line, but I shouldn’t have worried. I loved it. I can’t wait for New Moon!

I hope the movie will be as good as the books. It’s hard to picture anyone playing the roles of the vampires. I picture them as so beautiful. Can anyone really play that role? We’ll see!

  • Karen says:

I think of them all, I enjoyed Twilight the best and while I think Breaking Dawn is entertaining, I almost felt like I was reading a different story with different characters. And I like Edward, but I lean toward Team Jacob. I like them hot blooded, I suppose. I really do hope that the movie was done well.

  • Cindy says:

I am so Team Jacob. In fact, I didn’t even like Edward at until the end of Breaking Dawn. Who is my favorite character? Probably Alice, but it might actually be Jacob. I do plan to go see the movie, but I am extremely disappointed in the person playing Edward. I think they really blew it with him. Forget being a greek god, he’s not even cute. I haven’t really seen the person playing Jacob I don’t think, but I don’t think I could really be disappointed in who was chosen until a movie for New Moon. That is when Jacob really changes and the correct actor will be very important.

    Le *sigh* I just recently found Twilight, and I am totally fixated. I read through all 4 in ten days, and then the manuscript I red in 3. :}

I’m going back to RE READ twilight with the manuscript soon.

    I need a fix.

I’m not sure about the movie yet.

And I had NO idea about the phone call! *gasp* I’m going to read that now.

    Oh, and Go team Ed! lol And I really really enjoyed Bella, but I love Alice and Reneseme. :}

  • Amanda says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these books andd this author! I dont live too far away from Forks Washington so it is so magical :)

I Am a TEAM EDWARD! I loved the final book Breaking Dawn, my most favorite out of the series.
I will not see the movie, the character choices are not to my taste and I’ll enjoy the books in my memory.

    BUT

My favorite book of hers is The Host! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

  • CarScraps says:

I am team Edward 100% but I have friends who are team Jacob, so our discussions can get interesting. I think my favorite character was Alice. I really liked her and she seemed to care about what Edward wanted and how he felt, and she seemed to genuinely care for Bella as well. My favorite book was Twilight because it’s what drew me into the series to begin with, but I also liked Breaking Dawn. YES, I will be seeing the movie and I really hope it is good and doesn’t leave a lot out of the book. I hate that. I saw the characters before I read the books, so I already know what the movie Edward looked like, but I don’t think Robert Pattinson fits Edward. Or at least, not my version of Edward. I am not sure who would be better, but I think Edward should be sexier and more attractive. I just really don’t find Robert Pattinson hot at all.

  • Dani says:

I am ALL team Edward!!! Jacob was too arrogant and pushy for me…but that just MHO.
I felt sympathy for him but he should have realized it wasn’t meant to be and stopped pushing. As for the movie cast…you asked, so be ready for a complete answer *LOL* I think Bella is dead on how I pictured her. I’m undecided on Edward…I think I have to see how he plays the character before I can really say. Right now I’m a little disappointed but there is promise. Alice is perfect, but she isn’t supposed to prettier than Rosalie and she is. Rosalie is pretty but she is supposed to be STUNNING KWIM? Jasper is a little too “boyish” but fits pretty well. Carlisle I pictured as slightly older. Esme was a disappointment for me…that just isn’t how I personally pictured her. Not to mention the fact that I can’t get past that actress’ part on Grey’s Anatomy to see Esme in her. Emmett is alright I guess…I picture him bigger but I guess it’s tough to find someone that huge in real life, huh? *L* Jacob Black…now THAT one is interesting…I pictured Jacob as a somewhat gangly kid…not attractive but not ugly either. This guy is HOT. And he is better looking than the guy who plays Edward…that seems wrong somehow.

  • Dani says:

Oh yeah, and Alice was my favorite character. Twilight was my favorite book. And you bet your butt I’m going to see the movie…can you tell? *LMBO*

  • Jemenifer22 says:

TEAM EDWARD here! Although I have to admit, he was starting to get a bit annoying with the whole “you can’t go here, here or do this or that”… but other than that…I’M IN LOVE WITH EDWARD!! I’m obsessed with him! Anyway, moving on. I seen the trailer for Twilight before I read the books, so I kind of pictured him in the role…, but I admit, picturing him in some of the parts was kind of difficult. I just seen a pic of the guy playing Jacob and ooo, he’s soo cute! He looks alot like I thought he would. My favorite character was Edward though…hands down, why can’t every guy be like him….*DAYDREAMING!!

Ok, so I’m not sure if I have a favorite book, although, I think New Moon was my least favorite, I did not the half of book without Edward, sorry! But I have my favorite parts from each book: Twilight – “ahhh, this is wrong”, the meadow, spending the nights at her house, when he took her to meet his parents! New Moon – the end of the book! Eclipse – any part with Edward, Bella & Jacob together, hehehe…but I do love how Edward took care of her (not the overprotective part though), and ANY of the lovey dovey parts! Breaking Dawn – everything, especially the parts when Jacob was hanging out at the Cullen’s and being sarcastic with them all, I love how Jacob because a part of the family (digging in the fridge) ! Ok, so I guess maybe Breaking Dawn was my fav.

I will totally be at the movies for this one!!

I didn’t read Midnight Sun, because I was thinking maybe it would be a book and I didn’t want to spoil it, but I’m going as soon as I can shut my mouth up here (girl, don’t get me started on Twilight – FLOOD GATE!) But I didn’t know about the phone call…I’m so there for that one!!

I need a life! Thanks for listening (reading) to me rant about Twilight! (is it obvious I have no one to share in my enthusiam for this…hahahahah!

  • Tamm says:

Hiya Ellie – I try to say I’m Switzerland (STILL) but after reading all the books several times (including all the chaps that Stephenie put up for Midnight Sun) I have leaned a bit to Edward.

Snagged your Edward Mini-kit and I forwarded the link to your blog to my gfs and hopefully they’ll come and leave you some wuv and snag your kit.

I am so excited for the movie to come out I can’t stand the waiting! LOL

    I hope you’re having a wonderful vacation!

  • Melissa says:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all things “Twilight”! I just got back from a trip to Forks with twilightmoms.com, and it was AWESOME! I’m excited to use your stuff in my Forks scrapbook. I’m especially excited for the Jacob kit, because I have pictures from La Push and First Beach – including pictures of Quileutes performing a wolf dance -, but I haven’t been able to find anything good to scrap them with. Yay!

Oh, and by the way, I’m Team Edward 100%, and I think Robert Pattinson is perfect! The more interviews, etc. that I’ve watched with him, the more convinced I am that nobody else would have been a better Edward. He just seems to really “get” the character, and he’s a very talented actor. I’ll be at the movie theater at midnight on November 21!

As for my favorite book. I’d have to say “Midnight Sun”. I know it doesn’t really count since it’s not finished, but I LOVE it. The best is reading “Midnight Sun” and “Twilight” side by side and seeing what each of them is thinking at the same time!

Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks again for making Twilight goodies for us!

  • Vera says:

Hey hey hey, another Twilight fan here! :)

I am definitely Team Edward although I can’t help but LOVE Jacob too. I also loved reading the story from Jacob’s perspective in Breaking Dawn. That was a swell idea. I haven’t seen Midnight Sun yet, I was hoping it would get finished and the I’d just get the book. But oh well.

Thanks for the freebie you’re making :)

  • Becky says:

LOVE the twilight series! I was amazed that I would and did. My daughter has read it and loves it — she is one of those that goes to all the fan sites and what not. My son actually read them as well. I just finished book 3 and hope to get started on the final book tonight.

Team — I don’t know — I always thought I was team Edward but in book 3 it changed my mind a bit. I am holding out picking until I finish book 4

    Huggles

  • LOVE the twilight books!!!! I’m a Team Edward fan!!! I just LOVE them together! I’ll definitely see the movie, although I’m sure I’ll like the book better. You just have to look at it as a separate thing, I think :)

She’s a WONDERFUL author, just love Stephanie Meyers. I’m 1/2 way through The Host, and find it fascinating! Thanks for all you do, Ellie!!!

  • Kat says:

I am Team Edward, but as I am halfway through the 3rd book, I love Jacob too. Edward is her destiny. He’s my favorite character, I will absolutely be at the movie when it releases and I LOVE your kits. I stumbled across the Jacob freebie on IkeaGoddess and had ironically just read the imprinted part of book 3. These are so great. I have a Twilight freebie I designed on my blog as well.

Thank you SO much for sharing this. I will have to read the stuff on Stephanie’s website when I finish book 4. I am terrified of running into spoilers!

    Thanks again!
    Kat (ktanker)

  • Becky Smith says:

I love the Twilight books! I can’t decide who I like better. I like both Jacob and Edward! But I am TOTALLY disappointed by the actor playing Edward. He is not good looking or buff enough, definitely NOT what I pictured when I was reading the books! Thanks for letting me know about the phone call-I never knew about that! I am in the middle of reading Midnight Sun right now. I can’t wait for the movie even with the bad actor choices!

  • Shannon says:

OMG!!! You have no idea….lol Actually I am sure you do have some idea of how big the Twilight series is. My daughter and I are for Team Edward. We both have read each book about 4 times each and will probably re-read them until the pages fall out of the books. We are definitely going to watch the movie when it comes out. And I am sure once it reaches DVD I will buy that also. I don’t think I have ever been this addicted to a book series before.

  • Cristina says:
