New Kit, Freebie & What’s Up With Ellie?

Hello, digi friends!  I actually have something new in the shop (and a freebie for you here, and another one in my next newsletter if you are subscribed), so I will post about that all first and then get on to the rambling that only some of you are interested in!  lol

My new kit is called Inspired by Spring, because it was inspired by Spring :eyeroll: and also because it was late at night when I finished it and my creativity was seriously waning.  But I think it’s a pretty cute kit, despite that.  You can get it in my personal shop and it’s 25% off through March 16.  Just click the image to check it out:

elash_inspiredbyspring

And here’s a matching freebie for you.  Just click the image to download:

And don’t forget, there will be another matching freebie (a mini kit) in my newsletter that I’ll be sending out later today.  If you aren’t subscribed (and you want to be), just click the “Subscribe to my newsletter” graphic at the top of my right sidebar.

So that’s the business part of my post!

In personal news, things have been not so great the last couple of months just because the kids have been so sick, so often!  I’ve been sick, too, which is unusual for me and I actually ended up going to urgent care and the ER over the past weekend.  Let’s just say that things have to be pretty bad for me to get myself to the doctor, nevermind the ER!  Over the years I’ve been told by several doctors that I have an auto immune disease, but none of them can seem to decide on which it is.  I’ve been told lupus, fibromyaligia and rheumatoid arthritis, but it’s never very clear and they’re never very certain.  Whatever it is has been flaring up in a big way and I’ve been in crazy pain the last week or so and am managing on steroids and pain killers, which are not fun but at least I can get out of bed and take care of the kids, so I’m grateful.  Anyway, all that to say that if I go missing for long periods of time, that’s most likely why.

Last year I mentioned that I was going to try to lose weight and I even posted a hideous photo of myself.  That was difficult, but not as difficult as trying to lose weight!  I was a real slacker about it until my brother and his family moved here in the summer.  He and my sister in law really helped me start to take things seriously.  I said I couldn’t find time to exercise and they would come over at 5:30 in the morning – he would go walking with me and she would watch the kids.  They are big into juicing and they would bring me fresh juice and make me drink it.  It took me a while to begin to appreciate broccoli-kale-beet-apple-carrot juice they made, but eventually I did!  Then I started making real changes on my own, in my diet, and exercising on the side.  By the end of the year I had lost 40 pounds!

ellie-before-after

I know, I kind of look like Hugo from Lost in my before picture.  Yeesh.  I’m still not ready to do a full body photo, I still have a long way to go, but I feel like I have made some good changes.

Anyway, that’s pretty much how things are going at the moment.  I’ll try to be better about updating my blog, but no promises!  lol  Take care and enjoy the rest of your week!

Ellie it is so good to see you again! I love the new kit I have missed your designs!

  • bree says:

Ellie! I am so glad to see you! Dave has fibro, we have found that cutting out grains (especially bread) helps tons. Grains induce inflammation.
Hoping and praying you can get some relief soon!

    • Ellie says:

Thank you for that, Bree! I’ve actually just started on a new diet today called The Core Balance Diet by Marcelle Pick. She has a section that focuses on diet for those with inflammatory diseases and I did notice that there are no grains listed among what you should eat. It is mostly a lot of fruits, veggies, wild rice, sweet potatoes, chicken, fish, and eggs. I really hope it helps because this pain is ridiculous! Thanks again for your comment, I am so happy to hear from you! :D

Thank you so much for the freebies, but more importantly, thank you for sharing your inspiring weight loss story. I think you look great! I am dealing with an auto immune issue, too – it is so frustrating when the docs know you are sick but don’t know exactly how to fix it. I hope you are feeling a lot better soon. Take care!

    • Ellie says:

Thanks, Sandy! I am so sorry that you are dealing with something similar and I hope the same for you. Please be well! :)

  • Barbara says:

Ellie! It’s so good to see you posting again, and you look wonderful! I’ve had some issues, too, and just had surgery 3 weeks ago for a parathyroid tumor than made me very ill. Lucky for me the world’s most experienced surgeons for this thing are just over an hour away at Tampa General Hospital, so I went there. I feel great now! They cured me, but I have a lot to regain because those tumors suck all the calcium out of your bones. Anyway, I love your weight loss success story, and hope the boys are through with the illnesses they’ve been having! I love your new kit!

    • Ellie says:

Oh Barb! I’m so sorry to hear about your health troubles, but thank goodness you are cured! What a relief that must be! I’m sending you hugs and good thoughts! :D

  • Lulutoo says:

Amazing, Ellie! Gotta love your brother and SIL! Have you ever heard of Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride? She says that all health problems stem from digestion problems and has a whole protocol to fix it. (She wants people to be able to get better and just eat healthy after that, not be on a special diet forever.) I’m thinking not only of you, but your kids being sick so often. :(

Thanks for the cute freebies! I hope your whole family is feeling great soon!

    • Ellie says:

I haven’t heard of her, but I’ll go Google her asap! lol Thanks for letting me know about her, I am anxious to get my hands on any information that might help!

  • tamara says:

thank you for the adorable freebie!
I mostly came on, though, to congratulate you on your weight loss – what an amazing accomplishment! you are an inspiration <3

  • Kim Goodman says:

Thank you for both the mini and the journal cards. I have been battling fibro for 14 years now and I haven’t been able to work for the past 4 years. Nothing has helped me and I have tried it all. That said what may not work for one will work for another and the key is to find a very good doctor. My family doctor is stubborn and when he doesn’t get an answer then he sends me to see someone else. Luckily for me I had him and another doctor who pitched in (my allergist) and gave some suggestions and I got my answers within six months.

    • Ellie says:

Oh Kim, I am so sorry! After only having dealt with this for a short time I can sure feel sympathy with you having had to deal with it for 14 years! I hope you are able to get some answers (and relief) soon!

  • shuckclod says:

Thank you Ellie for the goodies. You look so great and healthy. The before and after looks like Mom & Daughter. DR.s these days are not really that great! I hope they find the source of your pain. I take fish oil daily , it is great for keeping the blood flowing and get less migraines because of it. Might be worth a try. Take care…

    • Ellie says:

Thank you! I was so unhappy before and even little improvements have made a big difference to me. It’s funny that you should mention it, but I actually just started taking fish oil a couple of days ago! My mom got some for me and thought it couldn’t hurt to try! lol I am up for anything at this point. :)

  • Nancy says:

You look really great and happy. Way to go!

Thank you for the freebies! I love your designs.

  • Shayla says:

Ellie, every time I see a new kit from you, I just have to stop and stare at every piece. You are so talented. Anyway, it’s nice to see something new from you. I’m no stranger to illnesses that can’t be diagnosed properly, I hope you find relief and answers to your issues. Thanks for the inspirational weight loss photos. It makes me want to try even harder on this weight loss journey that never seems to end. Good luck and take care!

    • Ellie says:

Thank you, Shayla! All I can say is that if I can lose weight, then anyone can! lol Good luck to you, too!

  • Carolyn says:

    • Ellie says:

Thank you, Carolyn! I really am so very lucky in having such a supportive and involved family. They have done so much for me and I am so grateful. Thanks for your sweet comments! :)

Well done on your weight loss – it can be very hard to lose weight especially when you are a busy mam.

    • Ellie says:

Thank you, Carole! You are so right, when you’re a mom there’s so little “Me Time” anymore. It can be such a challenge, but so worth it! :D

Just great to “see” you in my reader today! What a wonderful brother and sister-in-law. Sometimes we just need a boost in the right direction before we can fly. It’s good to hear you so empowered about your health, answers will come and meanwhile you are setting the stage for optimal health. Brightest blessings

  • Sandy says:

Ellie, it is good to see you back in great spirits!! Congrats on the weight loss. I know what a bear it can be!! Keep it up, I sure love our Ninja…the kale not so great and girl you got guts to do the beets too!! :-)

Thanks for the freebies, as always they are loverly. xox

    • Ellie says:

Haha, Sandy, you had me laughing about the beets and kale! It took me a while to get used to them, but now I don’t mind them at all. I’m not nearly as hardcore as my sister-in-law who even juices cilantro, red cabbage and green onion — yuck! LOL Right now I have a Jack Lalanne, but I have my eye on an Omega over on Amazon. Juicers can be so expensive!

  • Chris says:

Just found your site and love the cards. I really like that your brave enough to show your before and after pictures. Keep going on that weight lose and show us another before and after. Just maybe some of us can follow you!

  • Marie says:

    Dear Ellie,

Thank you for the new kit. And good for you with the weight lose, keep it up. It will help with health issues.

I understand where you are coming from. When my children were young I was also told that I had some type of auto immune disease that they were not sure about. Lupus, MS and others were considered. I was often sick and struggled with caring for my family, but I forced myself to do many things that I never thought I could do. I refused to not be a part of my children’s lives.

My children are in their later thirties now and my earlier life still haunts me. I lived a hard life during my youth and early adulthood working on our farm and in the armed services. I wore my body out. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis all over my body, and in my mid-sixties I need both my knees and a hip replaced plus both rotator cuffs repaired. I am prone to bacterial infections and therefore I am not a candidate for replacement surgery.

I was in my twenties when I was diagnosed with multiple heart problems along with severe arthritis. I am on my third pacemaker and still going, but the last year has been very hard on me. October 2012, I ended up in the ER/hospital with numerous blood clots in both of my lungs. I was placed on blood thinners to go with a large number of other meds. I have been fighting severe anemia since this time last year. In early June I had two strokes; in July GI problems caused me to have half my blood transfused. August brought another transfusion. I still have to watch my blood levels and I am now on biweekly IV infusions of iron trying to fight off this anemia. I still have talking and walking problems from the strokes. I just keep on ticking and refuse to just give up.

I do have at least a few auto immune diseases; fibromyalgia, blood clotting factors, and autonomic dysfunction (my autonomic nervous system does not work properly). The later has caused lots of problems with my heart, blood pressure, GI and urinary systems.

I pray that you never have it as bad. Do what you can, enjoy life and your family. My prayer go with you.
