I've started using My Plate at Live Strong to track my eating and I LOVE it. It makes it so easy to keep track of everything, especially since there's an app for it so I can use my iPod to record what I eat when I'm not at my computer. :)

Cinnamon Rolls and Weight Loss

   My post title makes it sound like I know a way to eat cinnamon rolls and lose weight.  I don’t, unfortunately.  lol  Those are just the things that are on my mind right now.  ;)

So yesterday I decided I wanted to cook a few things from The Pioneer Woman’s site and I finally decided on her Mac & Cheese, BBQ Meatballs, and Cinnamon Rolls.  They all turned out SOOO yummy!  Although I wasn’t paying attention when I started the cinnamon rolls and I ended up accidentally doubling the recipe!!!  (That’s what happens when you have 2 three year olds buzzing around the kitchen and getting into everything while you’re trying to cook three things at once!)  When I told my husband he was all, “YES!!!”  He loves cinnamon rolls.  Needless to say, there was no way we could eat 14 pans of them!  lol  So I put half of the dough in the fridge for later and made the other half.  My father-in-law came over and was more than happy to take half of them, so now we just have 3 pans sitting in the kitchen.  I’ve been good, though.  I only had one last night and one this morning!  Could have been worse!  lol

Speaking of being good, I’ve decided to really buckle down and try to lose some weight (now that I’ve gotten the cinnamon rolls out of my system).  I think the only time I’ve been a normal weight was when I was a kid and when I first started college.  Otherwise I’ve been everything from slightly chubby to seriously obese and back and forth.  The last few years I was just too tired to care about my weight at all, but now that I can’t claim baby weight and I actually do have some free time while the boys are in school for part of the day I have no excuse not to get myself into shape.  My problem is not knowledge, I know what I need to do.  I have meals and exercise all planned out, I just need to follow them.  (I’m a huge fan of Body for Life!!!  It helped me have the best body of my life several years ago.)  My problem is motivation.  How do you get (and stay) motivated?  Some days I’m all ready to face the world and others I’m just like, Blah, who cares? It’s those Blah days I need to get past.  What do you do to keep yourself motivated?

I LOVE pioneer woman’s recipes. The only thing I’ve made from her cookbook that I didn’t love was the grits. Enjoy those cinnamon rolls.

I have a hard time with the motivation too, specially around my period.

What I’ve found best is just to keep doing it. Keep working out when you don’t want to. But also, don’t work out to just work out. Do something you really enjoy.

I enjoy walking. LOVE it. Even gave jogging a bit of a stint (which I don’t mind either I found out) but really, to just walk is a joy for me.
If you’re going to take the twins with you make sure you get a FANTASTIC double stroller. I bought one at kid to kid, some new no name stroller, and the thing after 2 years of not really hard use, is really kindof difficult to use! It leans to one side and makes a wretched noise! There goes $200! So really research and invest! or just don’t spend the money and go when your hubby is home to watch the kiddo’s ;) That way you get some you time!
    Good luck!

    Hey Ellie,
it is great to see you back in buisness! I absolutely adore your designs :-) I Really need to get back on the whole waight loss train, too – I did a great job losing weight and keeping it off with the help of a couple of great girls at the webMD weight loss boards. We kept eachother motivated on bad days – hmm, I should go back there, now would be a great time! If you don’t want to use an internet based motivation group, get a workout buddy! I bet there’s someone around who would want to go walking/jogging with you! (I would, but I’m half a world away :-))

    Motivational hugs from Vienna,
    Vee

I find that the thing that keeps me most motivated is support and accoutability. So, I made myself acountable to the world on my website : http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_weblog/weight-loss-photo-diary.html

Talk about pressure and it sure makes you want to keep at it!

I love pdub too!!!! but i’ve never made her cinnamon rolls precisely b/c I’m worried about my weight!!!! ha! But my weight-loss regime basically includes chasing 19-mo. twins around the house…

Good luck with the motivation, it is the most difficult thing for me too! I don’t have any good suggestions, sorry! Oh, Pioneer Woman’s Cinnamon Rolls are soooo good, I made them this weekend, along with her Pot Roast, Yummmmmmmm!!

  • I’m glad to see you are designing again too! You are always so inspiring. The only time I’ve had to lose a lot of weight was after each kid was born, but it still takes a lot of work to maintain. After both of my boys I had 50 pounds to lose. What keeps me motivated is making goals that are attainable. I only workout 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. But whenever I try to up the time, I get burned out. And also changing things up so I don’t get tired of the same old workouts.

  • I forgot to say good luck!

Hi Ellie, Glad your back scrappings not the same without your cute designs! I have 4 daughters (age from 1 to 5). After all my girls i had gained 120 extra pounds. Yep that much. One day desided to motavate myself. I pictured some i thought was like the hottest star ever and said what if you met him would you want him to see you like this. Then i skipped a meal aday and ate light during the other two. And drank almost 2 gallons of water a day. And with 45 min exersizes 5 days a week. I lost 25 lbs per month and 6 days. Good luck and i hope this helps.
