I’m An Open Book
Alrighty, I’m closing the questions for my last post and will be back later today with all of the answers, a little freebie, and 2 winners!
My little Lukey is sick again, so it may take me until this evening to get it all done. A couple of days ago he started getting these red spots on his arms and he’s been really whiny and cranky. The spots spread to his legs and he was getting more of them. They aren’t bumps, just flat red spots and they don’t seem to itch or hurt so I don’t think they bother him, but they bother me! Any idea what this could be? They aren’t on his body or face at all, just his arms and legs. I called a nurse and we went through a million and one questions. She said it didn’t sound like chicken pox or measles or anything terrible, so she said just to take him to the doctor on Monday. Luckily they do seem to be a bit better this morning, so maybe it was an allergic reaction to something? I have no idea, I’m grasping at straws here.
Annnnnyway, I shall return later today! Go outside and enjoy the sunshine for me in the meantime! Happy Sunday!

Oh my Ellie – so sorry you have a sick one. At this age it seems that kids are almost always sick (and when you have 2 it’s bound to happen even more often). We have had rashes left and right, my daughter has eczema, so it’s pretty common to have all sorts of other rashes
The only thing I can think of is heat rash. My son gets that usually on his neck back and it goes from there. OR maybe you put sunscreen on him in those areas. We seriously have tried every kind and have just this summer found one that the kids don’t break out with. Anyway, just some ideas – get better
Ellie, I am sorry that your little buddy is sick again…I was thinking about your request of suggestions…has he been around any new materials such as wool or plastic from pool toys? They somethinges give that reaction. I had a sunblock do that to my little girl aslo…..I hope this helps…Get Better Soon Luck!!!! HAve a great Sunday too!
That sounds similar to what happened to my daughter. She went swimming in a hot tub that was tinged a little bit green. The doctor diagnosed it as hand/foot/mouth disease, even though her rash was completely different than the usual rash for that illness. The spot should have been on her hands, feet, and in her mouth, but they were on her arms, legs, and torso. (the doctor said there were spots in her mouth, but i couldn’t see any.) Does he have any spots inside his mouth? If that is what is wrong, there is nothing you can do about it but wait it out! It’s a harmless illness. Hopefully he’ll get better soon.
Take care.
Ellie, to me it sounds like Fifth’s disease. My daughter got it last year in kindergarten. They get lots of little red spots (like a rash) usually on their chest, arms, and legs (although my dd just got them on her arms and legs). They don’t hurt or itch or anything, and there isn’t anything you can do for them. They go away in a few days. The only thing is that pregnant women can’t be around a child who has them, or so our pediatrician said.
Hope he gets better soon!
have you started using a new laundry detergent? some children are sensitive to some detergents. Hope Luke is all cleared up soon so his Mummy can stop worrying!
Hi Ellie:
So sorry about your son, I know you are worried about your little cutie pie. I’ll bet everything will turn out alright!
I just loved your little freebie kit with the bird and the corrugated cardboard bracket frame. I must be a little stupid though cuz when I tried to download it, the site kept asking me for a password yet I don’t see one on your blog. Would you mind helping me out and telling me the password or point me to where I can find it on your site? Don’t mean to be a bug to you, but I just can’t seem to find it.
Thanks Ellie!
